Allow me by starting off by saying “THANK YOU,” thank you for an amazing NCBC Conference experience!
In the past, due to family and financial obligations, I was kept away from attending any NCBC Conferences. Thanks to the NCBC Scholarship Program, I was one of the fortunate ones to have been selected to receive a $400.00 NCBC Scholarship. This was my first NCBC attendance, and I was pleasantly surprised by the entire conference—It truly superseded all my expectations. I was fascinated with all the amazing, dedicated, hardworking volunteers of the host court and others involved in putting this huge conference together. The conference could not have been in a better location. The location was breathtaking and magnificent, just like its name: Magnificent Mile. The conference had 602 attendees, was beautifully put together, and was executed seamlessly.
The sessions we attended were very informative, educational and fun at the same time. One of the classes I took was on how to improve memory. It gave me the tools and techniques to remember both personal and work-related matters. By taking the class entitled “Decision-Making: The Military Decision-Making Process for Everyday Use,” it showed me that I was on the right path, because I use a similar process in my daily life. It gave me a satisfaction and reinforcement in my daily decision-making process for work and personal matters.
The daily morning walks from 6-7 a.m. with Aaron Bowles was a huge bonus. This way, we were getting our exercise early in the morning, while it was still cool and avoided the crowds. Aaron had a new route for us every day. During our walks, we went to the River Walk, The Bean, and to the beach. This was a great way to see Downtown Chicago, and I saw and learned so much. Aaron was very well-informed about the city and gave us a walking architectural tour daily. I had expressed an interest in vising the Holy Name Cathedral, so, on our last day, after our group walk, Aaron took me. Thank you, Aaron, it was very kind of you!
My sincere gratitude to NCBC Board, the NCBC Awards and Scholarship Committee and the Illinois Northern Bankruptcy Court for an amazing educational experience in Chicago!
