I am Una O’Boyle, Clerk of the Bankruptcy Court in Delaware and a candidate for President-Elect. I am a longtime member of NCBC having worked in the bankruptcy courts for 25 years, first as a law clerk and Chief Deputy in NYSB before moving to Delaware. I also practiced as a corporate restructuring attorney at Weil Gotshal & Manges in between clerkships.
Now more than ever, NCBC plays a vital role for the bankruptcy courts where shrinking budgets provide limited opportunity within the courts for training and leadership development. NCBC consistently strives to fill that gap and must continue to do so. I have always supported and encouraged staff to attend our annual conferences. Just as critical, is the outreach and legislative efforts NCBC provides for the bankruptcy courts. Last spring, as a NCBC representative, I had the honor of joining with the judges of the NCBJ legislative committee in meetings with members of Congress and their staffers to petition for the extension of the temporary bankruptcy judgeships and to promote the interests of the bankruptcy courts. NCBC’s ongoing outreach efforts with Congress, the Judicial Conference and the Administrative Office provide a critical voice for our members and our interests. I have served on working groups and advisory councils at the AO, am the Coordinating Editor for the Clerk Commentary column of the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, an Advisory Board Member of the Practical Law Institute, a member of several insolvency-related organizations and the bars of New York and New Jersey. I believe as President-Elect, I am highly qualified to contribute to those advocacy efforts and promote the interests of our membership.
Thank you for your consideration of my candidacy.
