CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT-ELECT: ANDREA REDMON
Hello NCBC Members!
I am honored to submit my name as a candidate for President-Elect. I am the Clerk of Court in ALSB and have worked for the courts for over 30 years. I am a lifetime member of the NCBC and served on the Board of Governors from 2006-2008.
The NCBC provides many opportunities and services to its members. First and foremost, it provides a platform for court employees to meet and build relationships with folks across the country that perform the same jobs. Those relationships can be a tremendous benefit as we navigate new rules and procedures, and to get ideas of how to do our jobs more efficiently. It is important for us as court unit executives to encourage and provide the funds needed, whenever possible, to send our staff to attend annual conferences.
Second, the NCBC provides excellent educational opportunities to its members. The LEAD Academy, launched last year to develop leadership and excellence skills, is one great example. The annual conferences have classes that include both court-related and personal skills training. As your President-Elect, I will ensure that we continue to provide top-notch educational courses to our members.
Finally, the outreach and legislative efforts that the NCBC performs on behalf of the bankruptcy courts are not always as visible to our members but are vitally important for our community. NCBC’s ongoing efforts with Congress, the Judicial Conference and the AO provide an important voice for our members. As your President-Elect, I will do my best to keep those channels of communication open and raise issues that are near and dear to the lives and jobs of our membership.
Thank you for considering me to serve as your President-Elect. I would be honored to receive your vote.
CANDIDATE FOR TREASURER: MATT BRITTAIN
My name is Matt Brittain, and I am an IT Analyst for the Middle District of North Carolina. I am honored to submit my name as a candidate to serve as Treasurer for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Clerks. With continued budgetary constraints and limited local court resources, the NCBC provides invaluable opportunities for networking, staff development, training, and shared best practices within the bankruptcy court family. I have been an active member since 2004. In 2017, I had the honor of being elected to serve on the Board of Governors. Since then, I have also served as Chair of the Benefits Committee as well as liaison to the Education Committee. For the past seven years, I have served on the NCBC website committee. In 2016, I received an NCBC Special Service Award in recognition of contributions made in this area.
Advancements in information technology will continue to improve processes in the courts, but a court is only as good as the people that are doing the work in the office day in and day out. I have been with the court since 2003 as an Operations Specialist, Trainer, and now, IT Analyst. I have worked with both the day-to-day operations of the Clerk’s Office and the information technology that supports the court. This gives me a unique perspective of these two different but complimentary sides of the court.
If elected, I will continue exploring new processes, systems, and ideas that will directly benefit judiciary employees. I will work with fellow board members to contribute to the growth and future of the NCBC, while continuing to promote the critical role the NCBC plays in recognizing and supporting our court family.
I would appreciate your vote. Thank you for considering me for the position of Treasurer.
CANDIDATE FOR BOARD OF GOVERNORS: CAROLYN BAKER
Hi, my name is Carolyn Baker and I am running for a Board of Governor position for the National Conference of Bankruptcy Clerks. I have had the privilege of working for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina for the past 29 years. It remains a joy to work for the court and an honor to represent the judiciary.
I began my career as a Case Manager/Intake Clerk. Prior to that, I worked for the state’s District Attorney’s office and was told that bankruptcy would be boring in comparison. Boy, were they wrong! I later advanced to a CM/ECF Administrator position and thoroughly enjoyed learning dictionary, forms maintenance, DQA and statistics. I currently serve as a Supervisor of Court Operations and remain passionate about court processes and procedures, training opportunities, and federal and local rules updates. I have been a member of the NCBC for most of my career and have been fortunate enough to have been elected to serve on the Board of Governors from 2018-2020. During this time, I’ve worked alongside a multitude of talented court staff on both the Board and on the Mentorship Committee.
I can attest to the fact that the organization continues to explore educational opportunities, expanded benefits and possible scholarships and awards. In addition, ways to broaden membership and express gratitude for each individual member by setting aside a week of prizes, fun and games as a token of appreciation.
I’m extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to serve and if re-elected, am committed to continue to do so to the best of my ability.
Thank you for your consideration!
