Hello and Happy November, NCBC members! I can’t believe it’s the time of the year again where we are counting down the days to Thanksgiving, the Holiday season, and the end of another year (and another decade!). 2019 has been an eventful year filled with exciting events and changes. This year, NCBC members had an opportunity to attend the 2019 Human Resources Forum in Atlanta, GA, and, for the first time since 2005, the annual conference returned to “The Windy City:” Chicago, IL. The Chicago conference was memorable and fun, and featured several new and exciting educational offerings, including 2 exciting plenary sessions. Matt Brittain, Eileen Garrity, and Shannon Morris were re-elected to their respective positions, and we welcomed Khadijia White-Thomas to the NCBC Board. Next year, we have many more exciting new things on the horizon, with our next annual conference hosted by the Central District of California in Anaheim. I look forward to personally welcoming you to beautiful and sunny Southern California next July!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t take the time to recognize and thank my hardworking committee members: Dailin Pena, Monica Yepes, Shawna Taylor, Jennifer Mahar, Jeffrey Peirce, Heather Burse, Deanna Anderson, and Stephen Grant. Thank you all for sticking with me and helping to produce such a great product issue after issue. After all these years of working together, we are still finding ways to grow and innovate, and it’s such a pleasure to work with you all.
To our membership: Please keep your content and your feedback coming! We want to tell your stories! In this issue, we introduced the new NCBC LEAD Program Spotlight, designed to showcase the accomplishments of our members who recently completed the first-ever LEAD Academy leadership development pilot program. A reminder also that we are always looking for volunteers to be featured in our “Connecting the Courts and Communities” feature and our NCBC Member Spotlight. We want to share the latest and the greatest in community service and engagement efforts from local courts, as well as new innovations, programs, and applications that help courts to better serve their constituents. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We’d love to feature you!
As always, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for the Impact. See you in 2020!
