The LEAD Academy, NCBC’s popular leadership development program, made a return after its debut pilot program last year. I was fortunate to take part in the 4-month program to learn about essential leaderships skills and how to apply them at the Court. The program pairs you with a mentor from another court to go over and review assigned coursework. Typically, the program concludes at the NCBC Annual Conference with a full-day in-person workshop.
Given the circumstances, NCBC went digital and put on a virtual workshop. The week-long program consisted of 2-hour morning sessions via ZOOM. It was fun seeing anywhere between 40 to 50 smiling faces on my monitor. The Zoom breakout rooms were a big hit as it allowed participants to have smaller group discussions away from the main room. Various managers and Clerks of Court from all over the country were brought in as guest speakers. Big shout-out to everyone at the NCBC for putting on the virtual event to make it feel like we were attending the live conference in person. I highly recommend the program for anyone that is interested!
