When the pandemic hit, sports and other activities stopped, and my husband and I were in the house all day with three 12-year-old boys. We needed an outlet, so we declared Saturdays as Trail Days! We downloaded the AllTrails app (see the icon above) and we were off! To search, you enter the name of your city, park, or trail (we search by city). Each trail is labeled with its name, difficulty level, review rating, walking distance and time to complete. If you click on a specific trail, the app will provide directions. There are also icons that indicate if you can walk, run, or hike on it, as well as if leashed dogs are permitted. The app also allows you to browse by activity, such as fishing if you are looking for a trail that includes a fishing spot. Over the last few months, we found great family trails, one that required single-file hiking, several next to a lake in the area, and one with amazing rock landscapes my boys explored. It’s a great tool to help you venture into the great outdoors near you and beyond. We also swing by Sonic on the way home for a cold drink, but that’s an app for another time! AllTrails is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.
