The NCBC Member Spotlight is a feature that allows NCBC members across the nation to get to know one another. If you would like to be featured in a future NCBC Member Spotlight, please contact Jennifer Mahar. In this issue, we meet NCBC member Mindy Smith!
Name: Mindy D. Smith
Position: Operations Manager
Court: Western District of Missouri Bankruptcy Court (we are a vertically consolidated court)
How long have you been with the Federal Judiciary?
I started with the court on July 9, 2018. It was also the day we went live on NextGen so I hit the ground running. I practiced as a bankruptcy attorney for 18 years in the Western District of Missouri prior to coming to the Court.
How long have you been a member of the NCBC, and how do you get involved?
I joined NCBC last year and plan to become a lifetime member. I attended my first conference last year and met so many amazing and welcoming bankruptcy court employees.
What has been your favorite NCBC Conference experience?
I’ve only attended the Chicago conference so far but was very impressed with both the personal and professional development sessions that were offered. The Crystal Gardens and the beautiful fireworks display were great!
How would you like to be more involved with the NCBC in the future?
I am a Local Representative for NCBC. I also recently joined the Editorial Committee and look forward to working on future newsletters. Kansas City, Missouri, continues to expand its airport and hotel base (and has great BBQ) so maybe our district will entertain applying to be a host court for a future conference!
